Arts, Briefly: Near Tie in Prime Time
25 Jun 2008 06:12:52In a low-rated Monday night of network television, filled mostly with summer repeats and reality fare, CBS, ABC and Fox finished in a virtual dead heat for first place in the prime-time ratings. CBS eked out a victory as the most-watched network, according to Nielsen’s estimates, earning the night’s top ratings at 9 with a rerun of “Two and a Half Men,” which attracted nine million viewers. CBS also led during the 10 o’clock hour with a repeat of “CSI: Miami” (8.2 million), which easily outpaced ABC’s struggling reality show “The Mole” (4.1 million). During the 8 and 9 o’clock hours, ABC’s two-hour installment of “The Bachelorette” averaged a competitive 7.5 million viewers, leading during both time slots among adults 18 to 49. ABC and CBS tied for first place for the night in that demographic, just slightly ahead of Fox, which broadcast repeats of “Bones” (6.4 million) at 8 and “House” (7.4 million) at 9. NBC was a distant fourth for the night, drawing 4.9 million viewers for “American Gladiators” at 8, followed by “Nashville Star” (6.1 million) from 9 to 11.
