Arts, Briefly: 48 Hours Gets Religion
08 Apr 2008 07:22:42“48 Hours,” the CBS newsmagazine usually known for investigating murder mysteries, is about to tackle a very different subject: teenagers who are training to be Christian missionaries. On Tuesday the network is expected to announce a collaboration with two Oscar-nominated filmmakers for a one-hour report titled “The Lord’s Boot Camp.” Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, the producers of the acclaimed 2006 documentary “Jesus Camp,” gained access to an evangelical camp in Florida last year and followed three teenage girls. The resulting report will be shown on Saturday at 8 p.m., Eastern and Pacific times, on CBS. Susan Zirinsky, the executive producer of “48 Hours,” said she hoped the project would open the door to future collaborations with filmmakers. “We love the crime genre, but this is another interesting way to expand our base,” she said.
